I was recently given a great job opportunity. While a love the job that I do, lately I've been feeling as if my skills are so needed, that I'm pulled in multiple directions. I'll be pulled off of one job to help someone else with another because the other person wouldn't know what to do if something goes bad. I'll be asked to translate for customers, collect payment, and various other things that are not in my job description. Most managers call it “going above and beyond” when employees do that….well, so should my paycheck.
I'm out there, literally in the elements. I'm performing the role of two people, as a technician and a consultant. I have to deal with the customer if they get upset. I have to answer all their questions.
I'm 26 years old. I rent a room from my parents because I can't afford to live on my own because everyone wants $5k/month for a 1 in² closet because there's a Chinese restaurant next door. Meanwhile, my supervisor lives in an apartment complex where she probably pays at least $3k/month, while driving a brand new car, and I do her job sometimes as well as mine. She's supposed to call the customers, she's supposed to make sure we get paid.
For every job I complete, the company makes $140 as an incentive from the manufacturer. I was told I'd be given a monthly bonus based on how many jobs I do. I was only given $200. $200 in one MONTH, while the company makes $140 in one HOUR.
I'm gonna ask for a raise, or tell them to go pound sand. Can't tell you how many times management praises me for my professionalism and doing things right, yet they don't show for it….
