Last year, I gotten my first marketing job. They hired me to fix their email marketing problems. The whole time, I was the only marketing worker in the entire company. They basically called it an internship to reduce cost.
The previous intern quit because he didn't send out any emails. After 1 month, I know why. I need approval from the Vice president before I send it out. And the VP never approved any projects I made because he was so busy all the time. I was by myself, no marketing resources whatsoever, just Outlook Office. I had nobody to train me or guide me through.
After 1 month, the VP stepped in to ask me to do grammar checks on every paperwork he had. He treated me like a coffee intern like the boomer he is.
After 2 months, I started to quiet quitting because I wasn't doing any marketing at this point. Even if I did, it would never work because the VP was not in office and no body even know who I am.
Worst part of all, we had to attend a daily 6am morning 30 min meeting to report what we are doing today and everyone's response is always the same. It's pointless and I hate mornings.
Why do I need VP approval? Why am I the only one in marketing? Where is the marketing department? Where is the training? Where is the marketing in this marketing internship? What is my purpose? To pass coffee? OH MY GAWD!
