I am about to head to work and am absolutely DREADING it.
I work for a non profit that has a lot to offer under it's umbrella. My coworkers are great and same for the programs we run but I'm beginning to despise my boss, the board, and a partnered affiliate we have that gives us a lot of money for a specific program.
There is an insanely huge lack of accountability with upper management. Where I've seen, and now experienced, the boss saying they'll be there for support whenever we need it. They help for a day or two then just dip. Then if you confront them about it or about other people not doing their jobs a slew of excuses comes out of their mouth for themselves or other people.
I'm going through a dumb thing where I had a spat with our affiliates and called them out on not stepping up in their own program to ensure it was running well, and they dumped the whole thing onto us staff after we all sat down in a meeting and agreed to do this together. So now what went from a spat over people not being accountable or showing good leadership to their programees, it has been turned into something fully untrue and blown out of proportion.
I have this really ominous feeling in my gut that I'm going to end up in trouble for calling people out on not doing their part.
At this point I'd rather just bartend or something…. At least there's an excuse for drunk people being ridiculous.
Also if you read this far: are all non profits this poorly ran?
