Is my employer required to pay used PTO?

I am leaving for the military and took the last of my PTO. I took 40 hours, submitted my time ticket and then turned all of my stuff in the day before I was supposed to come back to work. My question is, since I was still “employed” by them for the week and took my PTO before quitting, they should still be required to pay it out? This is in CT. It seems they want to fight me on it. I could see there being an issue if it was unused PTO but I technically used it.
