Reduced hours but still fulltime

Flex officer for contracted security company, in Houston, Tx. Schedule change from 3 people 3×12 hours per shift with a 4 hour shift to get 40 to 2 people per shift 5×8 hour shift for 40 or 2×12 and 1×8 for 32. When they announced the shift changes, they assured the people who were getting hours reduced that the company would provide “training days” to get remaining 8 hours. I was slotted for 40 hour shift on the schedule change but someone quit and I'm covering their 32 hour schedule until someone is hired. When asked if I could pick up 8 hours on my original time slot, I was told that if the people who got 32 hours want 40 hours they have to “find an open shift.” What do I do? Am I just getting shafted? This job pays too well for me to quit. No degree. No…
