So I went to a job fair for CNA’s & PCA’s.
The position was to go to CNA school while also being on call, as you would get paid while training. Those with CNA licenses would jump ahead in front of everyone else.
When I told them that I was challenging the board for my license I was made to skip ahead in-front of every body else. This is where things get messy. I passed my interview, was given a background check, but no offer of pay, or start date.
After getting tired of waiting I called HR and told them what had happened. I even told them that I was successful with getting my CNA license.
They would get me in contact with a recruiter (who wasn’t a recruiter but rather the person who ran the event) who would then pass me on to another recruiter.
This whole debacle with HR took me 3 days.
Fast forward to about two weeks after the career fair. The HR person now knows me by name. She admitted that me challenging the board sort of muddied the waters a bit. She would then find out that my background checks were good and that it was odd they would do this without even giving me an offer of pay. Finally I was given the correct recruiter and she said she would find a spot for me… Luckily I’ve been applying to other hospitals, as I feel like this ones HR department is awful and has done nothing but waste my time.
