Micro managers and editors who think they know best #rant #contentmarketing

I have had 3 managers and editors in the last few years who want you to do what they would do – not what you think is best. All these places hired me for the unique skillset I brought to the table, most of them told me how they are very particular about who to hire, and how I was less than 1% of the total applications they received they finally made the offer to. They praise my work samples, references, and tasks they give to do before hiring. Only to soon act like perfectionist micro managers who actually do not let me do the job. Every thing is a discussion, every thing needs approval, every work has comments on why this doesn't make sense and why you should do this way instead. Like wtf. If they had to do my job, then maybe they shouldn't become editors and managers…

Like wtf. If they had to do my job, then maybe they shouldn't become editors and managers and remain writers and content creators. Why hire someone only to continue to tell them how to do their job?

And it doesn't matter whether what they say makes sense. Just because they are higher in the heirarchy, they think they know better.

Why can't managers manage and editors edit — instead of actually butting in and doing your job for you.
