Quit my job today as I was sick of being micro-managed and set up to fail by a terrible manager at a company who is distrustful of remote workers.
Prior to this role I was working for myself doing the same thing/better for 7 years so I definitely did not appreciate the lack of autonomy and constant control/handholding by this boss. I just wanted decent conditions, to be treated with respect and stability of income employment brings over self employment.
I have some constructive criticism for him and the management overall but is it ever worth it to send an 'exit email' or do an exit interview (doubt they would do one anyway)?
I'm just so pissed that I give jobs everything I've got and because people are managers who have no management experience are in charge, the position becomes untenable and I have to uproot my livelihood, quit and find a more tolerable job.
I obviously didn't make it as far as applying for other jobs to get something lined up as I felt so emotionally drained 'managing up' and getting by so I know I've screwed myself over. It's honestly so exhausting.
Eurgh.
