Folks had some interest in my last post so I thought I'd update y'all.
My job has continued to be incredibly boring, unproductive, just an terrible waste considering that we're supposedly helping people. I've been giving about 40% and still apparently exceeding expectations. Amazingly, the phone screen I got from just my initial exploration of jobs– an opening I never would have seen if they hadn't cut my pay– led to an interview, and 5 days after that they offered me the job! (But because I've read too much on this sub, I waited to get the offer letter before sharing lol.)
It'll be much more stressful but also much more interesting, and I'll be making the leap to supervisor, which is huge for my resume. I'll also be making $20k more, and hiring my own people. I honestly didn't think I even had this much income potential– my mom, in the same field and with a Masters and licensure, only made this much in her 60s. It's way under 6 figures, but it's huge to me.
As for notice, I'll be doing it tomorrow, which is 2 weeks minus a day. I know there were a lot of votes for OE, ghosting, or a big show without notice, but I work in a small field in a small state. I run into the same people all the time, and I need my reputation. Coincidentally, I was invited to a meeting with the folks who slashed my pay, “to discuss how my new position has been.” Idk if that's the real reason, but it definitely doesn't matter now, although I'll certainly let them speak their piece out of curiosity before I drop the bomb.
I hate that I'm still playing the game, but the better I do, the sooner I can escape.
