So I have a resume on indeed, that’s a different rant, and I recently had a recruiter reach out to me from speedway. We did a phone interview and she went through her deal. At the end she asked if I had any questions and I did. The only think she didn’t cover was vacation/PTO/sick time quantities and if the base pay included potential bonuses or not so I asked. The base pay was pretty mid at 50-55k but it was plus bonuses so that would make it 60-65k. Like I said pretty mid for a GM. The vacation was abysmal. One week after one year. I was hesitant and asked if I could have some time to think it over and talk to my SO to see if we wanted to put off any vacation plans for a year and to talk about what time of year we are planning to get married next year so see if that aligned with not being able to for an entire year. This was Thursday. I reached out Friday morning with a couple of questions about time off I was already planning for my sons 21st birthday and mine and my bffs birthdays. I left a message and sent an email with no response. Last night I checked my email before going to bed at 1am and I had an email from the recruiter that stated that they had chosen another candidate. If they passed on me because I needed time to think about a position that would completely alter my home life and because I was asking about already made plans and time off then I feel like I dodged a bullet and anyone that takes this position needs to be aware that this means they want to rule your life. I’ve had this position before for a different company. It sucks the whole way around and the only perks are when you get time off. Anyway, we need more unions.
