Denied Job because I’m actively trying to join the U.S. Army

As the title hints I am actively trying to find a job while going through the enlistment process. For a new recruit the process has been known to not last as long as someone who has prior service such as myself. According to my recruiter in our area the normal time for a new recruit to go through the enlistment process can be anywhere from 1-4 months normally. Whereas in most cases for prior service he says it has been between 2-6 months. Because of this I decided to try to get a part-time job, because there are no seasonal jobs currently available in my area. Anyways yesterday night I went to interview for a company who in my area is notorious for the, “this interview is just for formality purposes, just by showing up the job is yours if you still want it,” kind of thing if you know…

Anyways yesterday night I went to interview for a company who in my area is notorious for the, “this interview is just for formality purposes, just by showing up the job is yours if you still want it,” kind of thing if you know what I mean. Well after explaining that I was a veteran the hiring manager explained that they give priority to people with prior military service. He asked me a few questions, and when he asked about my availability, I told him that due to the fact that I was currently going through the enlistment process I might need a day off every couple weeks to go to the recruiters office for paperwork and MEPS related testing.

Keep in mind the answers to his previous questions caused him to say that he believed I was the kind of candidate they were looking for to fill their open part time position that had 3 or more opportunities. We’ll not even 12 hours later I wake up to an email from the companies HR department stating that they regret to inform me that they would be unable to offer me the position at this time because they felt they had found better candidates for the open positions.

Like WTF!!!! Not even 12 hours ago you were hyping up the fact that I possessed the skills your were looking for and how I was such a good candidate for your open positions and now you’ve all the sudden managed to find at least 3 candidates for an open position that was posted just 9 days ago, and your not even open on weekends. Like I know they denied me employment because I’m actively going through the re-enlistment process, but how do I prove this when all they are going to tell the labor board is that they didn’t hire me because they found better candidates?
