Rescinded offer after negotiating

I just went through one of the worst hiring experiences ever. I applied for a job as a public relations specialist. Research for the position in central ohio was between $45,000 and $75,000 per year. On my application I put I wanted to make $65,000. I had to take a writing and editing test and three interviews. Finally got the offer of $55,000.
