Staff camp?

As the title says, my job is organising a staff camp/retreat for us. It will be considered professional learning, so we will still be working during the day and then at night …. ? Hanging around a campfire singing songs? I’d rather not. I’m on a salary job, I’m not getting paid overtime rates or given allowances for hanging around these people for 2-3 nights extra than I already do. I wrote “no” for the staying overnight section and I know there will be whispers about it. I will be staying at a hotel nearby, as the camping grounds are around an hour and a half away from me by car. I just needed to type this all out and have other people agree that this is absolutely ridiculous. What do I say if (when) execs ask me what’s going on and why I’m not participating? The whole thing is ridiculous. It’s in an effort to “connect with nature and one another”. We don’t even have one another on social media, we don’t know one another like that. There is nothing for us to “connect” to.
