Rules about calling in sick for food service

Hey all. I don't know if this is the right place to ask this, but I've seen more than a few people on here who are pretty knowledgeable about labor laws. My daughter (16) works in fast food. She called in sick today and said that they are asking for a doctor's note, otherwise she isn't allowed to return for 48 hours. The claim is that this is because she's handling food. Unfortunately, we can't afford to get her to the doctor every time she has a stomach bug, or a cold, or what have you. I've only worked in food service once, and then only for a month. They didn't have this policy there (Dunkin), and that was while mask mandates and what not were still in effect, so if anything I'd feel that was the time to be that strict. From what I gathered through Google, it says that a doctor's note isn't required unless you're out for more than 7 days.
