Suspended for following training?

So I worked in a union facility on the maintenance team. Firstly maintenance had 2 designations, mechanical ($28/hr) and electro mechanical ($34/hr). I was mechanical. The sent me to a electrical safe work training and when it was over I asked about becoming electro mechanical but was told I needed more training. In the training created by the company as their “standard” it said only qualified persons are allowed in electrical cabinets. Qualified according to the training was people with the appropriate training, knowledge and skill to do the work. So being that my manager said I needed more training to be designated electrical I allowed a machine to be down for 7 hours as I wasn't qualified and didn't want to get in trouble for not following training I went to literally 3 days prior. I had let my manager and the DO know as soon as it went down and they said they would have someone come in. They couldn't get anyone to come in and a week went by after the incident. After a week I was suspended for refusing to do work?? And the union wasn't really fighting for my ability to be paid for the unreasonable suspension allowing timelines to pass and not pushing the grievance process. So after 2 months of feet dragging I left the company am I still entitled to the pay they owe me for the suspension or did I give that up by leaving?
