Have you ever been glad that you ‘didn’t’ get the promotion of job you applied for?

Applied for a different job at the same company I work for now and unfortunately I did not get it. Normally I would be understandably disappointed but given what I know of my manager to be I'm almost more relieved than disappointed? Took weeks for them to get back to me about the job posting, and even then they drug their heels on getting interviews set up. Anyone I've talked to about it says that's normal for this person and no one seems to like them. I only applied because the job would be less physically intensive while paying potentially 40% more. While I'm not happy I didn't get it, I am relieved to finally have an answer (

While I'm not happy I didn't get it, I am relieved to finally have an answer (<10 people applied and it still took nearly two weeks to pick someone for an entry-ish level job) and to not work for this person.
