So…As the title says.
We're being told to Return to Office. They've been trying to get us to Return to Office for the last year. 3 days in, 2 days from home. But we had to return the monitors and docking stations (amd chairs) that we took to WFH during lockdown.
I've tried to ask for a home shored contract. No deal, the local HR told my US himeshored upline. I needed to RtO. So I go in a couple of times a month just to show my face. This is similar to around 70% of the 500+ employees based from my nearest office (a 1.5 hour drive, from my home. Each way)
Now…they have told us that from September 1st, we need to book a desk to work from. Every day. Using “our exciting new Hot Desk application” (Third party. Won't be cheap, let alone free. New terminals installed in the lobby on case you forget to book your seat)
Our lockable desk drawers are being removed. They have spent thousands installing lockers that work from our passes. These lockers can only be used for 24 hours per person.
These lockers are also an eyesore that block vluble light from the office space.
Anything left in the lockers for more than 24 hours is free game or removed (if found by security in time).
Why are we hot decking?
Because we are expanding to 900 employees from this office and “every office in Europe is working this way”
We're not expanding to 900 employees. If we are let me WFH and not take up a seat. I spend 1.5 hours in rush hour traffic to work remotely from an office, where I am demonstrably less productive due to distractions.
It costs me over 5000€ per year to do that, even if I only fo in four days a week, like I did pre-pandemic
We're not almost doubling our workforce to 900, either. They're currently advertising for around 30 positions…⁷
I have no contact with anyone in that building. My colleagues/clients are on every continent except for Antarctica. None of them are in this office.
An earlier post in this sub about Return to Office asked whether we are being gaslit. No we're not!
We're being blatantly lied to, manipulated and controlled.
