I’m off Monday. But I have to work anyway.

Long story short: I told my bosses a couple of weeks ago that I would need to be off Monday. No one said anything and my leave was approved. Yesterday, we get an email from the grandboss about a mandatory evening event on Monday with directions for who is supposed to be where and do what. I email my grandboss to remind her I'm off Monday and so I won't be there, but I'll make plans so my area is covered. She is shocked! She never heard anything about this being off Monday! No, I said, I sent you an email on xx day and put the leave request in the system on xx day. I have to be off this day, no question. I go to my boss, who is more reasonable, to bitch. She confirms she saw the email last week and knew I was supposed to be off Monday. I asked her if I really had to come back for the evening event, as we had plans all day. Yes. Yes I do.

So I'm beyond pissed. I have to take 8 hours of leave but volunteer 2 hours of my evening for nothing.
