So I'm in small rural town Ely, Nevada where I've been struggling to make it because I keep being turned down for jobs due to my arrest record, not for anything violent. Even employers who claim they take anyone with experience let me go after the background check.
Thursday I was finally able to get a job call me that didn't care of my record, and took me through 3 interviews ending Friday, one on the phone, two on zoom (They are still cautious abut covid apparently) and the guy in charge told me after the last interview I was hired. But I didn't have much of a chance to be relived that I'd be able to finally correct course with my life.
The new job requires me, in order to be employed, to get to their Eureka location since the branch near me does not have the tools for drug/background testing, plus that would also be where we get our name tags and shirts from along with anything else.
The problem is I don't have a car and out in these parts of Nevada there is no transportation system, and when they hired me they knew both these things. They told me they need people quicky and that i needed to get there tomorrow by 1PM to cement my job offer or they'll take it back, and they won't change the date or help me get there making this very inconvenient. I have no clue how I can get there:
As you can see due to the climate and distance, the cost to be able to get to their Eureka location paying for a ride, will cost $108 to get there. This is using Ruth which is right next to Ely as it's closer too Eureka.
I tried, I did a lot of struggling after I was hired doing odd jobs and doing the best I could to get the money, including sacrificing food money, and I did manage to get enough to GET there. However, the problem is I didn't obtain enough to GET BACK as well, once I get there I'd need another $108 to get back as the price listed in the link above is one-way only, which I Just don't have, and I'm almost out of time. I have from now until 1PM tomorrow to get to that location and secure my new job.
The Mechanic job pays 50k a year which out here is life changing. I could get health insurance, save, eventually get a car, no longer be homeless and have an apt, afford food, my whole life would change, but I don't know how to get the 2nd half of what I need, I'm half-way there with less than 24hours left to get the other $108. My last idea was to apply for credit and was declined, now I am out of ideas. My rural location limits options greatly..
I need help to find someway to remove this last obstacle so I can start life over with this new job and get out of poverty, so I'm seeking advice, any advice that is relevant to fixing this issue.
