I got my hands on a housing voucher which lets me pick any apartment I want, and they’ll pay the rent based on my income. If I don’t have a job, they’ll cover the entire amount. The apartment happens to be in the nicer side of town, and also has utilities covered. For food, I can just apply for food stamps and perhaps other programs can help out with other expenses.
Well, I didn’t picked that route since I was only in my 20s when I got the voucher, and it tremendously helped me out in finding a very chill, low demanding remote job.
But then I was thinking, hypothetically, I could’ve done it or maybe be a NEET at least.
The housing voucher is also known as a housing lottery since getting it is very luck based, and I signed up before Covid so who knows how many signed up for that now.
It’s really designed just for older/disabled folks and/or struggling families, so it’s good my intrusive thoughts didn’t took over.
