Venting about taxes. (22M, USA)

Depression rant. I’m sad because broke. I’m sure someone here can relate. My employer hired me (and 1 other person) in January of 2021. She made her hiring policy clear: first three months of untaxed paychecks. After 3 month probationary period we will be added to payroll and I’ll be getting my regular taxed direct deposits. Well, Paychex was late getting us our W-2s this year. After I got mine in late February I filed my taxes in March.

Then a couple weeks later we received our 1099s for those 3 months of untaxed paychecks. Which I had completely forgotten about of course. And no one had reminded us of course.

After getting my tax return of $1600, my car decided it wanted some (of course!) so there goes $900. Now I have to file an amended tax return for the additional 1099 form and figure out how much I now owe.

My amended return was just finished. I owe $1100. Now my savings has $100 in it. And my dad just got fired from his job no warning (he was a contractor, so that’s totally allowed and he doesn’t qualify for unemployment). He was planning on helping me pay tuition this year. Guess I’ll be taking out loans instead.

No real point to this post. I’m just sad.
