I gave my two weeks notice and worked to 3/31/22. On exit paperwork it explicitly states that insurance ends on last day of month(3/31/22) and when I asked manager confirmed I would not have insurance in April.
Comptroller called me 4/15/22 and stated my last check would not cover my health insurance premiums for April and that they had already paid United healthcare and I need to pay them $900 for my part of the months premium and $1025 for their part of the premium for the month of April. My last paycheck of $580 would not cover this and I need to wire the difference to them immediately.
I explained I didn’t feel that I owed them this and follow up with email explaining this and photo of signed document that had the last date and end of insurance on it.
They didn’t pay my check.
This is in Texas, not sure if it is wage theft or if $580 is worth a lawyer fees and time to sue/file.
