Does anyone know why employers make you fill out your information on their garbage sites?

I've been looking for work through indeed, and so often I'll get emails from employers asking me to fill out the exact same f***ing information on their trash buggy site. All I can think is that they must be selling it. If they get it from indeed there's probably a legal issue, but once you give it “voluntarily” then they can do with it what they want
