I hate to be the bearer of bad news but…..
Theres a reason unions have lost their effectiveness… their track record of corruption.
This country flourished when its gov’t had checks and balances, as was intended by the founding fathers….
Many of which have either been ‘loop-holed’ around, or presumed relevant actors would exercise a moniker of honor. We all have seen whats happened to the latter.
Another aspect was the birth of the Dept of Labor. Who introduce and are supposed to enforce labor laws. But anti-regulation sentiment has allowed past administrators to neuter and/gut such citizen protecting entities in gov’t.
The DOL, the EPA, FDA, DOJ, SEC, have all become farcical.
Both repubs and dems have had their hand in it. Taking turns being bribed into every which way, goal-less, quagmires we now live regularly, in constant near states of emergencies…. Be they the housing projects built upon toxic waste dumps, or pipelines through indigenous tribes land, or toxic investments on wall street.
To fix the system we need focus in the checks and balances that seem to be the only way to curb outright corruption, as now its done blatantly in the open, with their proverbial collective middle fingers point up in all our faces.
Puting all ones faith into unions will just cause more opportunities for yet more corruption until the DOL makes laws and enforces, that require unions to have similar checks and balances and are transparent about it.
But that cant happen until we get our gov’t to embrace their our restrictions, or we do better watching our watchdogs and holding their feet to the fire. Whos got time for that? Oh wait.
