I work in hospital foodservice, and our kitchen manager is a pretty proud-to-be-conservative, yay Trump Boo Biden kind of guy. Joe Rogan and Facebook seem to be where he gets all his news and opinions, but his Covid opinions have been very factual since we are in a hospital.Lately, we've begun doing some hiring. He went from the fairly grounded and factual “Post-Covid labor market is really tight, we can't get anybody for even $15/hr for basic kitchen prep work” to a new outlook. He says the labor market has flipped, and now because of high inflation, pretty soon hiring will be easy, and we can cut our labor budget again (pay less), and hire more part timers.Where is he getting this outlook from? Is this a new conservative talking point? I'm curious as to what the top-down logic is here. Assuming people will be struggling enough to take second part time jobs? Assuming there's STILL people 'living off the stimulus' (wtf?)This outlook seems so predatory and nefarious, which isn't really like him. This seems just so blatantly loony, but I'm not a part of that world, so maybe they all are thinking that now, idk
Edit: Afterthought- He plans on paying new hires less, while keeping the current pay rates for existing employees. I think he is in for a big wake-up call when ~sOmEbOdY~ lets the new hires know about the pay discrepency.
