I just started a new job and had to call in sick one month into starting. I apologized profusely multiple times, and provided a note from my doctor excusing my absence (I was really sick!) today my boss chastised me for a job that took me and another new hire too long to do (we were assigned this job together). He said “Its unacceptable, and I was going to talk to you about it Monday, but you were conveniently sick last week.”
He has the doctors note. My doctors number and signature are on there in case he felt the need to verify. I had just talked to him about how sorry I was for being sick the day before this comment, and he assured me that getting sick happens.
I didn’t say anything to defend myself. I wish I had.
Combine that with the fact things started out rocky with this job (I had to put in a discrimination complaint about my trainer due to repeat comments on skin color). I felt his treatment of me after filing a complaint about the trainer grew cold. I repeatedly fail to meet what I feel are unrealistic deadlines, although they reassure me there is a learning curve for starting (I know for a fact I’m not the only one not hitting those marks) I know that this isn’t the job for me.
2 weeks or nah? No show? How bad was that comment really? I have aspergers so sometimes social cues go over my head s little. I feel like he basically called me a liar to my face though.
