At the large healthcare corporation I work for today I was demand to attend a meeting that had ZERO impact on my job. So in turn I stirred the pot.
We constantly run out of physical rooms to see patients in. This is because the clinic insist on doing infusions in clinic.
During this meeting they made me attend, that did not impact my job, I asked about infusions. Having worked in home healthcare 95% of them can be done in home and I knew this. So I played dumb.
I asked was their a medical need that a physician had to be on site for the infusions. The clinic director admitted it was purely for revenue. Yet another reason healthcare is wasteful, ineffective, and greedy!
They could free up so much of the RN time , rooms, and clinic performance if they let the patients infuse at home. But the money is too good to pass up!
