Trickling down wealth?

My dad has been shelling out nearly 25% of his annual income to my sister’s mental health care (sister is almost 30 years old). He makes 110k a year after taxes. They have one vehicle, mostly paid off. Rent for $1500. He worries that she may never gain full time employment and is trying to get her a mobile home in the next five years. It was only fifteen years ago my dad was buying a bmw. He lives by the motto now: “I’d rather help my family in life then give them pennies after death.” That’s not to say that my parents are not comfortable, travel, etc., but watching them live well below their means to ensure the next generation is relatively okay has been a huge blessing.
