“A Face With The Resume?”

Am I the only one that finds this wording worrying? I did a couple zoom interviews for a marketing company, and in both the interviewer said “we just wanna put a face return the resume.” Both interviews had more than one person, the first one had me, a middle aged white guy and a black girl in her early twenties. The next one had me, another middle aged white guy, and a middle aged white lady. The interviewers were held by white people as well. I might be looking too much into this, but I'm afraid that this company is “putting faces to resumes” to bypass discrimination laws. I know studies have shown that resumes with black names get less responses and that is also true for those with long work histories implying the applicant is older. It just seems skeezy to me. Why do you need to match my face to my resume? All that should matter is my grooming and demeanor right?
