So I'm in the USA and a family member who works higher up in the federal gov I found out today they are an hr employee. They work WAY over their 40 hours a week. In some cases sometime in the in the AM hours and expected to start work again 6 or 7AM.
This is nothing new and has been going on for years. They are closer to retirement (I think 10 years or less). So maybe this is why they don't want to rock the boat.
Anyways, when I found out about this I mention how the gov was doing wage theft. They got seriously pissed at me and said I was sheltered. That if you fight it you better have all the money you want to live off of for the rest of their life.
On one hand I think they should go after the gov. But on the other hand, it's extremely likely they will be black balled from any job in the future (assuming they could even get another job at their age) and they basically will be starting over if they speak up and fight this. Like I'm pissed they attacked me since I'm disabled and couldn't be in that position even if I wanted. But I understand why they won't fight it.
