I left a massive international retail chain because despite being everything they wanted, they would NOT pay me fairly. I quit and joined a nonprofit that matched my ideals of being community-driven and youth-focused. First summer with them I was paid well and earned a sizable bonus. Since then, I took multiple pay cuts. They made me take on more and more work and I have raised their profits. My value is unmatched. We’re understaffed. I can’t call out. They’re cutting my pay yet again even though my experience and value is at an all time high. They’d collapse without me. I don’t want to leave because it would hurt the kids. I’ve put it out there with management that I deserve a higher wage. One dollar above minimum wage is not fair. Being paid less with more experience is no fair. I am the definition of going above and beyond. They keep going on about the budget despite the fact that they won’t order requested supplies. I’m mad yet I am passionate about this org. I don’t want to deal with changing jobs. Advice?? Ty.
