I work as an IT tech and go to locations to fix issues on site. I frequently re visit places and get to know the company's clients. Yesterday I helped a manager there and for small talk asked if they were having a Xmas party and he said yes. My coworker who is shadowing me said after “You can't ask that. You could get in trouble, it's not professional, we're here to do a job and that's it, that has nothing to do with IT”
Fuck you. I wasn't asking if I could go, I wanst asking personal life crap, it was just a simple fucking question to make small talk.
If you're wondering why I'm pissed at this it's because this attitude is pervasive in workers that they have to be robots or else they will risk being fired. Fuck that, if I get reported and fired for that then so fucking be it
