Advice on best strategy to get the hours I want

Hello, Background, I was a contractor working for my company. I worked 6am-3pm. Contract ended but company hired me into purchasing. When I interviewed the topic of hours never came up, they were unaware of what hours I was working and I assumed I would be able to do 6am-3pm again as that was what I was doing and I know there are peers in my department who do that. After I was hired I asked my supervisor in a written email if she would do this because of these reasons: ” I live on the other side of town, Traffic is an issue. If I leave anytime between 430 or after 5pm, what should be a 30-minute drive becomes 45 minutes to an hour. Hello,

Background, I was a contractor working for my company. I worked 6am-3pm. Contract ended but company hired me into purchasing. When I interviewed the topic of hours never came up, they were unaware of what hours I was working and I assumed I would be able to do 6am-3pm again as that was what I was doing and I know there are peers in my department who do that. After I was hired I asked my supervisor in a written email if she would do this because of these reasons:

” I live on the other side of town, Traffic is an issue. If I leave anytime between 430 or after 5pm, what should be a 30-minute drive becomes 45 minutes to an hour. So, in one day I am potentially commuting 1hr 30min to 2 hours a day to work, morning and afternoon, instead of 1 hour.

I would like to ask you to please consider allowing my hours once I have completed training to be 6am-3pm.

My daughter is in school, and her day ends at 330pm. I have been the one picking her up from school because there is no bus system for her school and my spouse works afternoons, we are making it work while I am in training, but it will not work long term. 6-3pm Seemed to work out ok when i was a contractor.”

She came back and said that I could do 7am-4pm until the end of the month but after that their “business need” is for 8am-5pm.

There is a director above my supervisor and I am not sure he really cares either way but I suspect the idea of a “business need” comes from by supervisor and not him. The work I am doing is processing purchase requisitions over the computer anyway.

Just curious if anyone can offer advice on strategy to get what I want.
