In my country, employers are required to give employees breaks if a certain amount of hours are worked. I'm part time, so I'm not affected by this but most of my co-workers are and choose not to take a break and work 30 minutes less instead, which isn't strictly legal.
This week we a guest from another location visiting us, and we've been told we have to take our breaks while she's here and we're supposed to pretend like we always take them.
I flat out told my boss today that while I won't say anything to her about it or bring up the topic, I'm not going to lie to anyone. I told her that if we're supposed to be taking breaks we should be, all the time. She's angry at me now because I have an opinion on it without needing to take a break and my coworkers are annoyed that they can't leave early.
There's a reason we're supposed to be taking breaks, and reason there are laws about this. It pisses me off that people worked so hard to get these kind of laws put into place and we're just ignoring them.
Am I an asshole for not lying about this? Am I wrong?
