On the handover call, I subtly applied for 2 roles within the company that were nothing to do with my current area, and were better paying. When I came back to my desk after my call I was told one of the managers was looking to speak to me, which I can only guess is about my applying – someone would have been notified.

Am I in the wrong here at all or am I within my rights to apply for a new role as and when I want to? I am based in the UK
