I’ll admit, sometimes when I’m sick my first thought isn’t “let me put it in the app that I’m using a sick day” so today, I forgot but emailed someone from HR when I remembered. Unfortunately, she wasn’t in the office and it wasn’t put it. I didn’t even know we had an attendance line to call into until today.
I work at a high school and today someone called HR saying I never let anyone know that I wouldn’t be coming in and that my name wasn’t on the list of employees who are out for the day. But I did tell those in the office I work at that I tested positive for covid and given everything we’ve gone through with covid, I assumed that everyone knows that if you test positive you still have to quarantine. But yet someone still called.
This isn’t the first time HR contacts me over things that others have said even if they have no basis to their claims. What can I do? At this point I know the other Secretaries are being petty and trying to use their connections to get me written up since one of them works closely with HR. Is there anything I can do aside from sucking this up?
Meanwhile I know for a fact other Secretaries are taking 10/15 up to 20 minutes extra on their lunches, giving students confidential information about other students, stealing vapes and weed that we confiscate from students that are supposed to be thrown out, and having inappropriate conversations with students overall. Should i report it? How can I ensure that HR won’t tell them that I reported them even though they have a good relationship with them? Am I being petty and should I just let it go?
It just seems like I’m constantly being thrown under the bus but everyone else gets covered.
