America's biggest export is, in my opinion, its culture. And while some may disagree with this, it is no doubt a big export from the states.
The Americanization of other countries can be seen in a variety of areas like: large American companies spreading abroad to the success of Hollywood globally. With the spread of American culture, the political system we have(an oligarchy, more or less) has been fostered by a great deal of countries.
America is obviously not an outright oligarchy, but it is not too hard to see that the “democracy ” has been twisted into a ruling class of the richest people. (Just look at wealth inequality and the way political campaigns receive mega donations, the people in power like power, and the people with money like money, so they consolidate)
Now, for a while, I thought this was a uniquely American problem, which is horrible in its own right. But now it's pretty evident that this is a global catastrophe. From the housing crisis in Canada, Australia, England, and practically every country globally, to the raising of the retirement age in France(and other countries), it is evident that the richest people, globally, have amassed such a wealth that they have influence over every political arena.
Humanity has reached such a point that the housing crisis from country to country should simply not be a problem. The retirement age, globally, should be decreasing rather than spiking up. And the reason I say these things should be improving for the average citizen of the world is because we invented a technology in the last 50 years that not only made the average worker 200% more productive, but it also made all of our lives(theoretically) easier. The internet and computers have united us, so I can post this here, and people in France can read this, and say: “hell yea, a like minded American who wants to have his fair share of the world we live in!”
In 1904, the weekend was invented in America. The Industrial Revolution spurred this as workers were more productive. We had a technological revolution, and no working class citizens have seen the benefits of this improvement. The ruling class likes us to be content with living our lives as is, and the proliferation of the “dream” being a 9-5 5 days a week until the day you die is a dream for them (it keeps us occupied, worried about the next day, and it keeps them in power). And we must, as not only as a country, but as a global community stand up to this tragedy and demand a better life for one another.
tldr: The working class has not reaped a single benefit from the last 50 years of technological advancements, and the ruling class love the fact we are glued to our phones, video games, and other distractions the technologies have granted us.
