Sorry I’m feeling emotional and just need to get this out.
So this year I was informed I was losing my job the day I gave birth. Thankfully because I was still technically an employee and got my paper work filled in right away (was literally still bleeding from childbirth while doing this) I got to keep my maternity leave.
The “official” reason for my termination is listed as performance based issues. I went through the process of the PIP but not only was much of the information false/exaggeration. Even going through the process it became clear I was not being supported to succeed, when asking for feedback to have areas to work on my manager was non responsive.
I contacted multiple lawyers who all believe I could potentially have a case but because I am the only complainant it’s not valued enough for them to take it on. So I’m stuck going through the EEOC and I have 0 faith in bureaucracy.
Today I absolutely lost it though. I was job hunting and trying to get myself in a position to not lose income once my mat leave is up and I came across a job opening with my previous employer. I am so livid because before I was made aware of my performance issues I inquired about if that position had potential to become available and if I could start working towards it. It was the next position up from what I had. My manager told me that I wouldn’t happen for at least a few years, because it would be based on client contract renewal.
And I am so PISSED because not only did I lose my job for bullshit reasons. Someone is getting the job I was working my ass towards
