‘Antiwork’ is poisonous

First things first, “anti bad working conditions”, “anti rich financial loopholes”, “anti bs wages” etc are fine, workers need to earn enough to cover their living expenses, medical expenses, and should have time for themselves too. But so frequently, the anti work posts are just about giving up, getting and demanding. The idea of “getting”, when held in company with “making” and as second in importance, is constructive for a society. But when held alone, it would just create a vicious, anti-social cycle. The predominant thought in the labor world was to “make” things and thus “make” money. People who make things are a sturdy, honest race because they deal with ideas of skill and quality. And society is solid so long as they are solid. The only way to break down this strong safeguard of society — a creative laboring class of sturdy character — was to sow other…

The idea of “getting”, when held in company with “making” and as second in importance, is constructive for a society. But when held alone, it would just create a vicious, anti-social cycle.

The predominant thought in the labor world was to “make” things and thus “make” money. People who make things are a sturdy, honest race because they deal with ideas of skill and quality. And society is solid so long as they are solid.

The only way to break down this strong safeguard of society — a creative laboring class of sturdy character — was to sow other ideas among it; and the most dangerous of all the ideas sown was that which substituted “get” for “make.”

And that's some potent poison for a society's future.
