From there a town can set its own zoning laws, for example to allow tiny homes or earthen homes. Want to have a small town with no police? Or nonhierarchical governance and direct democracy? Creating a small town can allow experimentation with alternatives to the problems of neoliberalism.
Empty land is cheap in many places in the country and property taxes are close to zero. You need to look out for things like your water supply and soil quality, and also climate predictions. But we could be doing some cool stuff!
