I've been looking around for a job I might want for some extra cash (early retired, so I don't “have” to work) and i'm finding a lot of jobs that have application processes that, well, suck ass. So when I get to a point where it's asking me to explain all the reasons I left every single one of my past jobs, or when it wants me to writeup a lengthy cover letter kissing their asses and begging for a job, I dump it and move on.
Which means i'm constantly getting emails like:
“Thank you for starting your application for (crappy job title) position at PEARSON PACKAGING GROUP. We noticed that you have not fully completed your application.”
“Thank you for beginning the on-line application process to apply for a new position at Astor & Sanders Corp. Please complete your on-line application in order to be considered for this position. We look forward to reviewing your completed application.”
Or like this one, where I submitted my resume to them via Indeed and they send me straight to their website to spend my valuable time plugging in all the specific things the way they want.
“We have received your profile from Indeed for the (crappy job title) position, thank you for your interest in this opportunity with RICOH USA! There is additional information that we need in order to complete your profile; please click here to access the career site and continue your application. “
I wish I could reply to these saying: “I have 30 years experience in my field. If my resume isn;t good enough to move forward with then it's likely working for you is going to be as much a waste of my time as your application is.”
