I work at a company that is over 100 years and multinational. I had 2 years of experience in my home country, after which I shifted to Canada. My manager told me this.
“You're doing a great job. You have the potential to get there. I thought it would take you 2-3 months to get here, but this is good. See, to me, you aren't someone who has 2 years of experience but someone who graduated and somehow worked for 16 months. I know I shouldn't say this, but if you work only 8 hours, you won't get there. When someone offers you $3 for a job where you can learn and $5 for a job where you don't, you should take the $3 job.”
The fact that he deemed my experience irrelevant pisses me off. First of all, he said 16 months, bitch, I interned there for 6 months before I joined full time for 2 years and had interned at HP as a first year, I had an insanely good pay in that job too. The only reason I took this all in is because of my status in Canada.
I was in research and had won international awards at that job. But because it was in a different country, they considered it irrelevant. I am looking for other jobs, even though it's been only 3 months here. He is also condescending af. He continuously tries to point out gaps in knowledge and micro manage me,
, etc…
