Having trouble finding a clear answer on this. But I'm trying to figure out if it is legal for an employer to round the minutes that an employee worked.
Example: employee with an 8 hour work day works an extra 5 minutes late. Employer then rounds it down to just 8 hours for that day.
From what I have found so far it seems like in some situations employers could round up or down, like if they didn't have an exact time keeping method. But I'd like to know for a scenario where employees are using a time keeping method that is accurate to the minute, is this something that is still legal to do? Or would it be considered wage theft to not pay for every minute the employee worked?
Also I'm in the US and in Iowa
