Are most workplaces like this with medical stuff??

I’ve gotten a new job fairly recently and it’s had a good few red flags and I’m considering leaving already after less than a month. My old work were fairly good to work with and the only reason I left was because I was offered better pay. They knew flexibility was an absolute dealbreaker for me. I work in IT but not service desk so don’t necessarily need to be there set hours. Anyway, now I have a medical issue that I need to get a blood test on a specific day. It can’t be done on a later day. Had to let them know and my boss insisted that I need to put in a “time off request for approval” and with the EXACT times I wouldn’t be there and if I go over this amount I need to give proof as to why… this seems like a ridiculous…

My old boss wouldn’t have cared and just would have told me to feel better.

I’m just sick of their attitudes already. I have two disabled kids who need appointments too. It was a nightmare trying to start work early and finish work early on one day after giving 2 wells notice for a childcare issue.
