Are we living in a newspeak world?

I thought this would be a good place to start this conversation because of similar labor and market posts I've seen discussed on here in the past. I had a conversation tonight that made me think of Orwell's 1984. The conversation started after I was watching the talking heads on the news blabber on about inflation.  It made me think a lot about that word, and how one word can really describe a lot and so little at the same time. Devaluation of the currency – inflation, corporate profitering – inflation, increased market prices – inflation, entropy in the system – inflation, increased demand/decreased supply – inflation inflation inflation. Inflation is not just one thing, it is many things in the English language.  We can all sit here and explain what each one of those things means, but without a lengthy conversation (which will potentially lose people's attention) it is a difficult subject…

We can all sit here and explain what each one of those things means, but without a lengthy conversation (which will potentially lose people's attention) it is a difficult subject to discuss. And then it hit me that most people's breakdown with organizing is communication and the ability to understand another person's point of view without allowing interferences.

That being said, why don't we create new words when this happens? Or at least new channels to communicate?

Again, I thought this would be a good place to talk about this because it does involve the economy and, tangentially, workplace organization. Do we even have the words we need to do big things like unionize under this much corporate backlash?
