As a French the US seems wild

I discovered this sub after lurking in the French version r/AntiTaff. And two things clearly comes to mind when seeing all the posts here: First it's really terrible how US culture has managed to corrupt French people and we went from “General strike to get more holidays and better salary, and you'll pay our wages during the strike and a bonus too otherwise we kill the CEO and the President-King shall be next” to “Please we make small strike don't touch our pensions”. Second, WTF USA? I completely relate with all your work situations with shitty manager, that's universal. But what the hell are your work laws? How can 1/4 post be about how you quit because your boss says that from now on he'll reduce pay or if you give him notice you'll be paid min wage or do more hours or shit like this. I mean I don't…

I discovered this sub after lurking in the French version r/AntiTaff. And two things clearly comes to mind when seeing all the posts here:

First it's really terrible how US culture has managed to corrupt French people and we went from “General strike to get more holidays and better salary, and you'll pay our wages during the strike and a bonus too otherwise we kill the CEO and the President-King shall be next” to “Please we make small strike don't touch our pensions”.

I mean I don't even understand how it's possible, don't you sign a contract? How can the boss decide on its own to change the contract? Don't you have to agree to the new terms?

And don't you have ANY basic work law to protect you? For example in France any kind of monetary retaliation from the boss is forbidden. You make a mistake? Well if the boss tries to make you pay $ for it he'll go to prison. I saw a fucking post where someone was asked to pay 5$ for documents pay related??? In France if you ask in writing anything related to your contract or pay or sick leave or hollidays or whatever and they don't answer, you're free to assume the answer is whatever you want it to be.

I'm really impressed by how… Wild the work world seems to be here. WTF are benefits? WTF are limited sick leave days? Like if you got a long term disease you're supposed to cope with it?

So yeah, it won't make me less of a winy striker bitch in my country but… Damn I feel you American fellow workers. Good luck. And if I might give a piece of advice, we French invented a very useful tool back in the days to “negotiate” with the kings. Might want to borrow it to get a decent Work Law…

Edit: the good aspect is that we get to see posts of workers who do shit as wild as this. Like people saying fuck you I quit. We can't do this here. Well if we do they'll sue.
