My sister just got a new boss at her job. The boss mentioned that she thinks my sister speaks too loudly and that it must be because she’s from NY (sister now lives and works in the South) and told my sister that “we’ll need to work on that” My sister has never had anyone mention this before at this office—but now she feels self-conscious about it and isn’t quite sure what her boss is going to expect her to do. Anyone else ever deal with this? I told my sister jokingly to start whispering, but really all I could say was “wow”

I took the day off from work on the day I went to get my annual physical. This was briefly discussed during my small talk with my doctor. I’m not sure if it prompted her to ask the question she did or if it’s routine? At the end of my physical, my doctor asked me if I had any thoughts of depression or sadness, to which I just said no to (for obvious reasons). She followed it up with something like, “Any lack of motivation to do your daily tasks like errands/chores or going to work?” I actually thought this was a joke at first and said yes while giggling. She looked up, looked me in the eye and asked me, “Yes, you don’t want to do those things?” I responded with, “Well, no? I mean I DO them because I HAVE to… I work because I have bills… but…

Everyone (friends & family) want me to stay at my current job whilst looking for something else but I just hate it. I want to quit and start fresh. I don’t care if I’m unemployed, I just want to be happy again (I currently live at home with no bills or obligations so unemployment wouldn’t be that bad). But I just can’t find it in me to be happy no matter what I do. I just hate the work that I do. I hate the environment that I’m in. With all the information I’ve been told I’ve tried to reach a consensus and to stick it out for 2 more months to reach a total of 6 months. If I can’t take it anymore within these next 2 months I’m fucking quitting. I can’t remember the last time I was happy since starting this role 4 months ago. Fuck sakes.

I am seeking advice. In a nutshell., my life has been a mess since 2017. I got divorced and in 2019 I suffered a severe TBI (traumatic brain injury) ny treatment was halted during covid so I was off work from 2019-2020 and when I returned to work I n 2021, I was injured again. These are all past jobs. In 2022, my neuro psych recommend I apply for SSDI due to having trouble maintaining a job bc of both physical needs and mental. I opted not to because my family offered support as long as I worked part time. I was able to get a lot of government resources (food stamps, bill assistance , therapy through non profits.) The issue now is that I have gone into debt due to an emergent surgery my ESA had and then I tore a tendon in my ankle last week. My family…
