Guess I’m being monitored. I’ve been questioned today at my full-time job about my side-gig. No, it has nothing to do with my full-time job. I noticed upper management looking at my professional social media profile recently. I thought it was because I promote them on social when they ask, trying to give them more traction (I know, a mistake). I work on gigs through a third party site that states an inaccurate response time, based on the first time I ever responded to a gig months ago. They questioned if I was working on that while working my job. I don’t even take breaks during work (rarely do), and often skip lunch. Dedicate more than 40 hours a week towards it, taking on other team member roles, a growing list of responsibilities never addressed in my job description, training people, tackling upper-management projects, etc. Still was questioned on somehow…

Company furloughing employees
Hi there, In the last two weeks my job has been going through a furlough process. Last week it was 58 people throughout the company & then as of today another 7 just from my team (almost half) were furloughed. I was lucky enough not to be one of them (yet.) I am obviously concerned & feel like I have a bullseye on my back. The company is being very hush hush about the entire thing & just basically refusing to address the elephant in the room but word travels fast amongst employees. Does anyone have any advice they can offer as to what I should do or what to expect? I’ve never worked for a company who has gone through a furlough process. I think I’m done
I work at major bottling company warehouse in the south. There’s no unions, it’s right to work state that can fire you over anything. I work mandatory 6 days a week, 8 hrs of hard labor and can barley afford my rent and food. I was charged a 200$ bill from a doctor visit that lasted 10 mins and shoved me out the door. My car payment is through the roof because of the city I work in, so I work to pay my car insurance and rent so I can continue working in the city. I can’t afford the time off work to go back to school or learn new skills, I have no hobbies and no friends. I don’t have parents I can fall back on to change direction. In May I’ll be 30 yrs old, and I have no other qualifications that can land me a better…

Podcast rec with a sub mention
The UpStream podcast is a great pod for helping you unlearn what you've been taught about Capitalism. I've been catching up on older episodes, and wanted to highlight the January 2nd ep., Breaking Things at Work with Gavin Mueller as it discusses a less often mentioned group in the worker's movement, the Luddites, and mentions this sub about 40mins in.
