The Politics Of Free Time
None of my customers paid their bills
I have no money left. I've done shit loads of work though and it's going to go unpaid. I'm hiding underneath the blanket today because I feel sick to my stomach. I've never not been able to pay my own bills. I'm considering pulling the plug and going back to working for some asshole. I've also considered selling everything I have and moving to Mexico. No one cares either. I made the calls to the people. Not a one has an interest in putting a check in my hands. This country is so fucked up. The amount of debt general contractors are carrying is out of control and the wheels are coming off so fast. I guess let it crash. If I have to go down then I hope all these other people go down with me. System is broken. Fuck people who refuse to pay bills. Fuck capitalism.
I was a casual at an industrial/agricultural warehouse this past month, and not even four weeks in, I got a call the other day without warning, to tell me that they’re now ‘overstaffed’ and ‘no longer in need of my services’. (Wouldn’t be ‘overstaffed’ if you didn’t hire new people every fucking day now would we…but oh noooo, we’re just all so disposable.) I read the casual contract and so I knew this shit could happen, they can just terminate me whenever without giving cause. It’s basically a right to not give a person any basic respect at all is what it sounds like to me. Fuck man, no rdos, no paid leave, annual leave at all, nothing. And then ‘fuck you, bye bye now!’. Wow. Thanks.
Company protecting a toxic employee
I work at a non profit and the admin assistant is a constant issue. She's been reported numerous times, been reported to HR where she made herself look like the victim, and now she gave false information on a public platform where the comments from potential customers were tearing her to shreds and calling her out for her disgusting attitude, rightfully so! Unfortunately, with her antics and negative attitude came backlash, and we now are at risk to lose donors. We've already lost volunteers because of her too. Will she be reprimanded? No. Will our supervisor fight for her to not be fired? Yes. She's done it several times now. Shes lazy, egotistical, and protected. She knows she can get away with ANYTHING. Turnover is incredibly high because this job is stressful as is. But add her to the equation and it's even more of a shitshow. I'm looking for…
Getting a ticket/citation
I (25f) work for a landscape company in Illinois. Everyday I am driving company vehicles. Yesterday one of our guys drove our dump truck and part of our passenger mirror fell off. Our boss does not take the best care of the vehicles and doesn’t always listen when something needs to be done. Getting a new mirror will take some time. If I get pulled over and ticketed for the missing mirror, do I need to pay it? Will my insurance rates go up? Will it be on my record? This would also go hand in hand with missing taillights or brake lights.
