How to deal with harassment and bullying in office?

We're a development team of 10. Our collegaue (not my superior) is a burnt out lead developer who is constantly working 12-14 hours and expects the same from everyone. At first, I did try give all my best I could, I even worked long hours to finish my work on time. As I learned, this guy is a bully. He doesn't like if someone else works on the same component and knows WHAT crucial information to hold back so you fail your task. We don't know if he does this intentionally or not, but he constantly puts blame on you and openly criticizes how you approach a certain problem instead of being assertive and nurturing. The turnover rate is pretty high and we noticed this toxic atmosphere, but no one DARE to openly recognize the source of the problem. The source is this guy. If you try to bring attention…

I need advice on how to approach my new employer for time off while do fertility treatment?

Long story short I’m about to start a new job next week. I’m looking forward to working with this new company because they have been willing to work with me around my school schedule. I’m going to graduate with my bachelors degree this July. Anyway I’m a 25 year old female with pcos and I’ve been battling infertility for about a year now. I was on the wait list to meet with a reproductive endocrinologist for about 6 months. I had my first appointment last month and the plan is to 3 pursue IUI cycles (not IVF). March was spent doing diagnostic testing and I’ve been cleared to begin my first cycle in April. The problem is there will be a few days that I may have to miss in order to make it to my appointment. I plan on talking with my future boss and HR explaining my situation…

I accidentally got hired by a terrible company and now I think I need to quit.

I’m in week three of working 2-days a week in the office, 3-days a week remote. Yesterday I was prepping my calendar and realized there is a week in June between when my kids’ school ends and summer camp begins. I had asked if I can work remotely five days instead of three for that one week 82 days in the future. They said no. I could use PTO though, except I only get 10-days of PTO a year. 2 days in June is literally 20% of my annual vacation time. I’m feeling pretty shitty about this, but figured I’m new… they don’t know me yet… I have to prove myself to them. But then I talked with my office mate who has worked for them for 23 years. After 23 years of working for this company this person got denied a work from home day when she was feeling…

help addressing touchy safety issue

Idk how to address this with my employer, but it's starting to come up. I work in an industrial/factory environment, and all our ladders are rated for 300lbs or less. At 290 I don't feel comfortable working on them, and as far as I can tell all other people my size and bigger just use the ladders and haven't said anything. Our company rewards finding safety issues and they play a slideshow of resolved issues on a monitor in the hallway and enter you for a gift card drawing. I don't want to 1. Announce my ballpark weight to the whole factory 2. Be known as the person who put work on hold to get equipment for weight issues or at worst 3. Get all the other bigger people in trouble for using the ladders, because we're required to go down a safety checklist before using the ladders and only…

Need help to quit my job…

I need help to quit my job without going broke! There's a great anti-work story that goes along with this, but it's not necessarily relevant so I'll put it in the comments. But the point is, the CEO of this company is being greedy at my expense, and I'd like to quit. However, this job makes up about 60% of my income under normal circumstances, and I don't have enough savings to quit without finding another job. Work is highly skilled and hard to come by in this industry, and at the moment I don't have any leads on new gigs. Also, I'm moving to a different state to be closer to family in 2.5 months, so I don't want to pick up any jobs in other industries that are too “important”, since I'll have to quit so soon. Does anyone know of any stable, stress free, decent paying ($20-25/hr)…

From your own experience what are some telltale signs that you are about to be “laid off” or straight up fired from a company?

I’m 21 and don’t know what to do with my life just yet. My mom constantly makes me feel like that’s a bad thing

So I didn’t go to work today. I’ve been experiencing burnout and decided not to go for own well-being. Once I told my mom, she said that I should push through anyway and “that’s just life”. I explained to her that everyone needs a day off for themselves sometimes no matter how old you are. She says I’m acting like a child by complaining and that life is only gonna get harder so I need to push through and do things I don’t wanna do. I never call off work. This is the first time I have done it (at least at my current job) I told her that I needed to do it for myself and she proceeded to tell me that I have an easy life and shouldn’t be stressed out. She also got on my case about my spending. I have a savings account that I put…
